The acoustic guitar is a great way to start in lessons and the beginning of your music life. It is also a great way to take your music every place with you. Camping, cottage, sunshine destinations, you name it!
The acoustic guitar comes in a few variations.
Nylon string AKA Classical Guitar (which we recommend for beginners, particularly younger beginners). They are softer on the finger tips because of the lower tension and string material, they can sound good and still remain relatively inexpensive and even the full size one is not too big. If needed they come in 3/4 size so you can start at any age. Another reason to choose the classical guitar is the wider radius free neck really promotes good left hand position!
The Steel String Guitar. This comes in many sub variations; folk, jumbo folk, dreadnought, parlour, full, 3/4 and 1/2 sizes as well as 12 string. We really believe that this family of guitars is better suited to those with a little more experience.
Both types of guitar come an acoustic/electric version in which you can play acoustically and later plug into an acoustic amp or sound system.
While other places might claim you can go from zero knowledge to playing your favorite songs right away, we know that is just blatant false advertising. We offer a straight forward approach to learning the guitar from the beginning to where ever you want to take it.
In reality, whatever your end goals are on the guitar you will still need to start at the basics. Our motto “Providing Students of all Ages the Skills to Last a Lifetime” seriously. What good is it to learn a song when you can’t learn another because you don’t know what went into that 1st song?
We teach you to read music, open position chords, barre chords, scales, soloing, etc. Along the way we teach you to teach yourself. Skills that last a lifetime.
